north on Plum Island
I arrived on Plum Island about an hour before low tide this morning, a perfect time for a walk by the sea.
The Parker River National Wildlife Refuge beach is closed for the piping plover nesting season so I headed north from the refuge. The beach was flat and a good walking surface initially; it eventually changed to a steep slope making walking a bit more challenging.Posted by Denise Goldberg at 2:38 PM

tree peony in bloom
I headed to Long Hill today to visit the tree peonies. I last visited there ten days ago. At that time there were buds on some of the plants, no flowers. Today they were fully open, with some of the flowers past peak bloom.
There was an explosion of color!Posted by Denise Goldberg at 7:31 PM

photos! Bedrock Gardens
A friend and I headed to Bedrock Gardens in Lee, NH on Tuesday when they opened for the season. It was a delightful visit, a chance to wander through sculptures and the currently blooming flowers.

a late tulip
While most of this season's tulips are well past their prime there are still some sharing beautiful blooms.

high tide
Walking along the coast is much easier at low tide. When I felt the urge today to visit the ocean I saw that the tide would be high at my arrival time. I chose to head to Jenness State Beach in New Hampshire since the beach there is relatively flat.
It was cool and windy, and there was enough sand exposed to allow me to have a good walk with dry feet.Posted by Denise Goldberg at 5:23 PM

spring green
While some trees are wearing leaves that have fully emerged, others show newly opened leaves in spring green.
